I have DVD copies of La Luna, if anyone's interested. Email me at [email protected] to make an offer and shipping arrangements. I'm not running a movie store, but I happen to have a bunch of extra copies. Only serious offers please, don't waste my/your time. Great pic/sound quality, unedited, original cut.
I'm interested. Do you still have copies? I'm new to this site, but I assume you can just "Reply." If I don't see a reply in a few days, I'll try your e-mail. Geoffrey Welch
I am interest in a copy of La Luna on dvd. As you most likely know it is not to be found from the USA dvd sellers. Question: what format is it in? PAL won't work here. Please advise and name price.
The problem with the German edition of La Luna is that it does not have English subtitles for the bits in Italian, though almost all of Italian spoken in the film incidental.
The only suitable version for English speaking audiences, who do not understand Italian is the Australian Region 4 version of the film. It's the same print as used for the European releases but with English subtitles.
Brand new DVD copies of this film have been turning up recently on eBay, and that's how I got mine after a years-long search. These were produced for Russian audiences, and the artwork for the casing is in Russian, but never fear: there is an English soundtrack without subtitles, the discs are Region 1, and the print is widescreen, beautiful, and unedited. The scant dialogue in Italian is unsubtitled, but it so incidental as to be of no concern. Go for this.

Thank you jononfire, I got my Russian-made DVD of "La Luna" on eBay, in its original English, uncut and widescreen, 142 minutes. It is a truly beautiful, remarkable film, good to see again.
Hey fellow Moonspinners lover, I watched Place for Lovers on TCM last night and then looked it up on IMDB. And there you were again. We seem to have the same love of the same movies. I also purchased my dvd of LUNA on ebay from Russia! Crazy similarities.
Does your copy have the scene with Joe and Adriana in the stall? I have several copies from different sources and none of them do. The only place where I have heard that there is a really complete uncut film is Channel 4 in the UK.
It's at 18 minutes. We see Arianna go into the men's room and put her hand over her mouth and then the film cuts to a scene of Niagara falls in a movie they are watching. So a scene has been cut and I have been told that it shows in the men's room Joe taking her into to a stall and finger *beep* her. Also it shows an old man in there envying Joe. Although I seem to remember seeing that last in a film so your cut might or might not show that. Let me know what you find.
Just checked and unfortunately my copy has the same cut. I remember the scene you mention was in the original cut that I saw in theaters in 1979. Odd that it should be cut. Also remember being disturbed by the man watching Joe and Ariana. Very creepy.
Was that in the USA? Didn't think is was distributed here and I first saw it on cable but I got in during the middle so would have missed the men's room scene. I remember watching not particularly interested then there was the scene where mom rubs off Joe in his jeans and I though WOW. As I remember it that scene had Joe kinda standing up so BB must have taken a number of takes of that;-)
The US DVD subscription rental service www.facetsmovies.com has the German region 2 PAL, in English with German subtitles, available for rent with membership. Region 2 discs will play in the US only on an all-region player.
