The woman was no less annoying. I cheered when both characters finally got what they deserved.

I think the woman was worse. She started off unpleasant while he was more obtuse and self-involved but somewhat amiable in the beginning. She's also the one that secretly had an abortion, which made his cold action towards their sex life more understandable. (Or did he coerce her into in it because of the affair? I wasn't clear on that. If so then they both come off as in bad shape) Interestingly enough she seems to be the more poisonous one in their relationship while he seems to be the one that's more destructive outside of their relationship. Either way they were thoroughly unpleasant folks!

I agree. I hated the wife a lot more than the husband. They were both very unlikeable but she was worse IMO. I wanted to see her ripped apart by an animal.

Which brings me to my question. I saw this movie a long time ago and I can't remember how she died. I remember the husband's death (hit by the truck at the end), but I can't recall her death. Was it shown or did they cop out and have her killed off-screen like so many movies I've seen involving the death of female characters?

Someone please tell me. TIA.

She was killed during the scene where Peter was alone at night and kept hearing noises. I'm pretty sure it was the same scene where he lit the sea cow on fire. He shot out into the dark where he heard the noises coming from. He didn't realize until the morning that he actually shot her.

They didn't show it. It happened off screen as far as I remember...you just see her body in the light of day.

There wasn't an affair. He coerced her into swinging with the neighbors. When they were arguing she said "This was because you wanted Frida so bad that you forced me and Mike together, and then you went ballistic when the whole thing blew up in your face." Paraphrasing just a bit there but I just watched it. While she did have the abortion in secret he was the one that set up the swinging and caused the situation where she got pregnant by somebody else.

I did find 'teddy bears picnic' say a bit way over the top and quite hammy.

Peter and Marcia weren't particularly sympathetic characters. I don't why Marcia went on the trip at all. She was determined to be grumpy.
