This is a family film that violates the 3 main criteria for a family film today:
1) Good acting, yes, even from the kids
2) Good script
3) Good direction

exactly, unfortunately they don't make kids movies like this one anymore because the world is way too conservative now. back then you could get away with a lot more overt sex talk and sex images than you can nowadays sadly.
