Interesting Variation.

I normally shun away from tales that are altered from the original stories.

I must say, however, I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Well, really, the biggest change is the the way it concludes. I enjoyed Jeff Golblum's take on the character. Dick Butkus played a good part as well. Also, this version has a good dose of memorable lines (the kind that youngsters enjoy quoting). It has a more appropriate intimate feel then the more epic versions.

This and the Disney animated version are the two I enjoy enough to purchase. If you haven't seen it yet try youtube, which at present (July 2009) has the full film. You may find this one quite enjoyable.

Yeah as a kid I always loved Winter Palmer's "I'm not dead, I'm not alive, I'm both, and neither!" and all that kind of stuff.

One thing I never got though was why they made Ichabod Crane a skeptic in this movie, he's not a skeptic, he's superstitious, he'd jump a mile if somebody said boo...this was the first version of Sleepy Hollow I ever saw, and I still have the tape, and I love Jeff Goldblum's portrayal of Ichabod, but I just don't get why they changed it.

I enjoyed the Winston Palmer character too. He is still an enigma at the end of the movie. With his bulk and loud laughter, I thought that he was being played by British actor Brian Blessed. But when I saw Palmer more clearly I could see it was not Blessed. An actor called Michael Ruud instead.
