Why were they after Miss Froy?

I just watched the whole movie and I still don't understand why they were after her. Did they ever say? Or did they and I missed it?

She had a secret message to deliver to London. It was in the form of a tune only she knew, nothing was written down. The NAZIs knew she had vital information to pass on and wanted to stop her from doing so.

I think Hitchcock had a term for this kind of thing. Didn't he call it a McGuffin or something like that?
It was not really important for the plot, but of course there had to be a reason for the entire story.
Just my 2 cents...

I got the explanation of why they were after Miss Froy. I didn't get how her name disappeared from the train window after it had gone through the tunnel.
