So Where is the Scene When He Slaps Her?

Meryl Streep said Dustin Hoffman overstepped by slapping her and you can see it in the movie. I watched the scene where she leaves him and he wrestles with her attempting to draw her back but at no time does he strike her. They are together in a few more scenes and in the restaurant he slaps a glass against a brick wall but never hits her. Where in the film does he slap her?

While in court she is using everything she has to get custody (including the playground incident and the info on Hoffman being fired). And yet she also says he never abused her physically in any way. So probably there is no such scene. At least I don't remember it.

It must have occurred off camera, or if on camera the scene was not used to avoid making Hoffman's character look bad.

It was off-camera to startle her. You don't see it in the movie, just the aftermath.

In what scene?

reply

The very beginning when she is leaving him. Before she gets into the elevator.

Thanks.

Al Pacino's SLAP of Diane Keaton was much more traumatic
