the best scene ever !

when Dustin throws the wine glass against the wall.
that's an Oscar moment for both of them.

Technically, he swatted the wine glass into the wall. Great scene, unbelievable tension by both actors.

It was certainly a dramatic stunt.

Vanity Fare ran a fascinating piece last spring about the making of the film which included many excerpts from a new Streep biography. Apparently, Hoffman drove everyone crazy on the set with his methodology, least of whom Streep, who had no idea it was coming. After the shot (Hoffman only informed the cameraman, apparently), she had flakes of glass in her hair. She told Hoffman never to do something like that without telling her first.

It's still a great moment though. Made me jump when I watched the film this weekend. I had completely forgotten about the scene.

Something I've always found fascinating about actors is how they can "roll with it" - especially when danger is involved - for the sake of a scene. Streep was indeed genuinely surprised but managed to stay in character.
