Ja upea tunnelma. The atmosphere brings inner memories of the great, inspiring harmony of the late 70's/early 80's. The word that I would use to describe it might be 'homely' or 'cosy'. (kodikas)

I can't remember how many times I have watched this classic, and can't even estimate how many times I will still view it in the future, if things remain ok. And my main motive is always the same - the atmosphere, that feels like great food or great aroma that you just can't get enough of.. ahhhh...

Of course, there are other things that makes me want to recommend this to everyone who appreciates humor and interesting plots with lots of imagination and creativity. There's the performances of Spede and Tapio Hämäläinen, for example, that couldn't ever be replaced by anyone else. The women of course are awful, just like they are always in Spede's movies, but that just adds to the charm.

Of the other cast I must mention Vesa-Matti Loiri, who is just absolutely brilliant in his many roles, and so hilarious it's hard not to laugh even after such big amount of viewings. I especially like the 'Kamreeri', the office clerk with the too-high table and weird lunch.

Even Simo Salminen is pretty good in this movie, his drunken stupor is actually convincing, and his serious and dry 'sober' character fits very well with his usual dry and emotionless delivery.

Most of all I just love how this movie 'feels', and I wish, for this reason, that I could just travel back in time to that year to feel it even more powerfully, the feeling of that era was just something so marvellous.

There are some flaws in the plot and inconsistencies in the explanations versus the actual reality, and of course plenty of plain bloopers - but none of that matters in this movie. It's just a wonderful, cheerful, uplifting and very humorous classic movie that leaves the audience always with tears in their eyes because of pure joy and good feeling, and still laughing from all the ingenious hilariousness that radiates throughout the whole fun-fest of a movie.

I recommend this to everyone, except perhaps to the most black-hearted cynics that never feel anything.
