Another classic 70's not.......

Another classic 70's film not officially released on DVD?? Why not? The movie has George Burns! The movie has Brooke Shields!!! I don't understand. Do you?

I don't get it-there are so many movie's that many often wonder about.
Just You and Me, Kid is a great movie and I would love my kids to add it to their growing collection of movies that include many of older films. I mean gosh, Shirley Temple is out on DVD and that was decades before the 70's!

I suspect that it's not out on DVD because the movie was not considered a success by many people. It was a failure with critics and theater patrons alike, and it only found an audience on television when HBO ran it constantly as filler programming. I know it's loved by a large group of people who saw it when they were young, including myself. But having recently watched it again, all grown up, I can tell the movie is largely unfunny and very silly. Probably from the studio's standpoint, the movie would only appeal to fans of Brooke Shields and George Burns, which would make it a limited audience. The best thing that can be said about it is it's nostalgic, especially for those of us who grew up watching it on HBO. But even though I like the movie for nostalgic reasons, I can honestly say it's not very good. I am sure Brooke Shields would rather leave it forgotten, because her character is badly written and she does not come off as appealing in this movie whatsoever. George Burns is great, but he has all the best lines and he's just about the only good thing in the movie.

GroovyDoom,

Loved Brooke Shields in this. Called an old man a fag, stole 20,000 from a criminal, ran around naked (shame on the stunt double), and fell out a window! That's the kinda gal any boy would wanna end up marrying!

If the Studio (or whoever owns it) doesn't want to go through the expense of producing a DVD, they could at least release it to digital online viewing through Netflix or something like that.
