Crucifixion scene

How did they create the effect of the crucifixions? They look real but the actors surely wouldn't have been able to endure that.

Well, consider this, too: Even though the Romans were the ruling power in that time and country, they still let the people follow their own religions as long as they didn't disrupt Roman rule. Sure, the Romans would have loved to see their victims with everything hanging in the wind, but we've gotta remember that this was a Jewish society with laws against such things. If the Romans had crucified Jesus and the other two without a scrap of clothing on, even though they were criminals in the eyes of the Jews, the Jews considered any nudity in public to be dirty and disgraceful; hence, if the Romans had crucified them naked, it would likely have started an uprising against the empire or would have at least swelled the ranks of those already in rebellion. So, for them to crucify a "criminal" naked would have actually incited more criminality.

I wonder how did they create the scene when the soldier is going to nail the INRI sign above Jesus. Did they do it so simply that the actor was hanging with the ropes only? Beneath actor's feet i did not see any supporting beam etc.

EDIT: and Happy New Year!

Brian Deacon is my acting tutor and told me that he had to sit on a large nail that was hammered at his crotch. Basincally he was sitting there for hours and hours hence he got seriously ill doing this project. He was in pain!

Also when he got hoited up on the cross thats where all the actors started to feel the burn big time!

He is a great tutor very open and honest!

you don't have to hear me, to feel me trying.
