Two different Pilates!?

Does anybody know why there were two different Pilates in this film? The Pilate meeting with Caiaphas and Annas in the earlier scene is a different actor from the Pilate we see later on. Why is this? Anybody know why they got a different actor for that earlier scene?

As far as I know, only one actor (Peter Frye) plays Pilate.

I've got a DVD rip of the film. Give me two specific scenes and I'll look. But I'm certain you're mistaken. Perhaps you're confusing Pilate with Herod Antipas? They kind of look alike.

I'm talking about the first scene with Pilate (right after Jesus drives the money changers out of the temple.) Isn't that a different actor from who plays Pilate later on when Jesus is brought before him? He is sitting having a meeting with Annas and Caiaphas.

reply

No. I think it's the same guy.

I'm wondering if he was drunk when they filmed the scene when he walked to the ledge before he tossed the roll with his decree of punishment on it. He was walking kind of weird.

Go to the TRIVIA section. It explains what happened. There are 2 different edits of the film, and in ONE of them, they inadvetently included both actors in the print.

There was a LOT of strange behind-the-scenes things that went on with this film... like having nearly every actor dubbed, EVEN in the English version.
