Its awkward how such a silly and dull movie end up as a "comedy classic (its inculded in so many TOP 10/25/100 comedies of all times lists)" with such a high score.

I know that the main character is Retarded, but pretty mych everyone in this movies was an INBECILE or a total nutcase. That kills all the funny premise. Funny is when you have a retard communicating with normal people. It worked with Forest Gump / which makes it a great movie and a novel/.

two points. 1) Forrest Gump isn't a comedy. 2) Navin isn't retarded...he's a Jerk.

Why not discuss the topic rather than spelling?? I find it sad people tend to try to attack somebody for spelling mistakes rather than the argument they put forth.
The guy could also be dyslexic. Dyslexic people are not "retards". They can actually be very intelligent. Get a clue before you attack somebody like this based on their spelling.

It's because that's about the standards we had back in the late 80s for comedy.
If you look at SNL about the same time was similar crap. Martin has never ever been funny in my view. All his skits I've seen fall flat for me. Additionally people seem to confuse nostalgia with good cinema i.e. they watched this as kids and still have a soft spot for it like we all do for things we saw as kids that we liked. This is about the level of comedy a kid may find amusing.
