One Terrific Film

Wish this would get some airtime on one of the cable networks. It certainly isn't dated (other than the short track uniforms), and it's a good character study of men behind bars. These guys seem to like it also:

I would love to see a DVD release of it. The 2009 version is bogged down in development will not be made for some time now.

I got it on DVD the other day - German import, but with the original English sound and you can turn the subtitles off.

Check it out on... err.. a "well known on-line media website" ;-)

I agree.

It may be on Youtube now- it was a year or so ago.

Yes, an outstanding film.

I think I meant Amazon ;-)

I just searched Amazon and they only have a Region 2 DVD. Hence your "German Export". Region 2 is mostly for Europe. Thanks for noting you can turn the subtitles off.

They also have it on VHS tape but I no longer have a tape recorder. If anyone reading this thread does that is another option. Simply run a search on Amazon for The Jericho Mile.

The film on YouTube no longer exists as far as I know although certain scenes are in their database.

If you can access this film it is worth seeing. A fine prison movie.

I'm in the UK, which is Region 2 anyway ;-)
I only mentioned the German part in case the language on the cover is relevant and to highlight that it can still be enjoyed as if it were the original English version.

You can get region-free DVD players, or if you watch on PC flash your optical drive to bypass the encoding. The DVD43 application also helps. Legality of this is actually being debated as international DRM technically violates human rights. For me, it's the ONLY way I can ever see certain film releases, despite them already having been screened in this country.
