I was confused

When I first saw this film in 1979 I was confused. When "Rain" says he killed his father because he was "bashing" his sister, did he mean he was beating her or raping her? I thought at the time in those times it was unclear because it had to be left unclear.

I didn't think it really mattered, myself.
If pushed, I'd say it was beating, but I guess it's down to whichever one best fits your own interpretation. Both are enough to drive him to murder and that was the more important factor... that and his lack of regret.

He meant beating her. After all, if he was referring to rape he would've said so. It's not like the word 'rape' is a cuss word that wouldn't have been permitted on TV (being that this was made-for-TV, albeit released to theaters in many parts of the world, e.g. Europe, Mexico and Hong Kong).
