Deleted scene

Does anyone know why the scene featuring Joe Lewis and Woody Strode taking on some goons near the start in this was deleted for the UK video release?
I distinctly remember viewing the scene on TV once wherein the aforementioned thugs taunt Strode's character by calling him a 'Half breed' and 'Geronimo'(!)
Surely the BBFC didn't omit the scene due to the racist teminology?
