'I've only had four women'??

I didn't get it when Shel says while standing before the firing squad, "I've only had four women: two of them my wife, one before and one after." What does that mean, two of them my wife - that he was married twice?

reply

I think he means he was with his wife before they were married and then after.

So his wife counts as two women he had sex with? Once before marriage and again afterwards? I don't think so.
"I've only had four women. Two of them my wife. Once before and once afterwards. Even in the army I never fooled around."

Then what do you think it means Snelling?

reply

Even the silliest lines in this movie make sense. This one escapes me.

Just a guess but I'm pretty sure that a lot of things in life have "escaped" you.

DEFINITELY meant sex with his wife before and after they were married; counted as two women. I thought it was funny. But I think virtually every line of dialog in this movie is funny. "We have no blindfolds senor we are poor country."

It is a comedy, I feel the same way as ejr-4, every line in this movie is funny. This was not a serious movie everything does not have to be logical or make sense.

The most important thing is sincerity. If you can fake that you've got it made.
