Why they had a TATOO on their faces ?
What did that mean really.Was it to ID them or the science they were doing.Anyone has a guess.
I think it's the new American flag or something.

i got the impression it was a id tag. alex's tatoo told benson she was not from earth, that might show her being from a earth colony or of a low cast system they have as that time.
shareIt's something that's a usual symbol of a dystopian future - people being ID tagged. I thought it was a nice departure from the usual barcode on the back of the neck or wrist.

As I recall, back in 1980 in the US, scanning barcodes was a relatively new thing to the public, so it's logical that they didn't go with a traditional barcode. Also, today the term "barcode" refers to a variety of scannable symbols, not just vertical lines, so the marks on their faces could still be considered a barcode.
