That poor dog

I saw the movie in about 1982 or so and I vaguely remember that they had a dog and it graphically showed it getting killed. I hope I was wrong. I don't give a rat's ass about adult humans getting killed (unless it's me, my mom, or one of my friends), I mean there are 5 billion of the damned things around but a harmless little dog??

You don’t see the dog getting killed, only the aftermath where its head has been severed and its belly cut open with some innards spilling out.

Very disturbing image, it freaked me out as a kid.
