Thanks for providing that link. That's my first time seeing that ending and I appreciate seeing it. However, I must say I still prefer the ending where he doesn't get the girl.

With the sad ending, the movie captures so well that male experience of when you just can't fathom why a certain lady you love doesn't want to be with you, when it seems so clearly in the man's mind like the two of you could be happy together, and when in fact you were happy together for a brief time. But for whatever reasons of hers, it just isn't going to happen. Very courageous to end the movie that way. It's honest.

The happy ending is sweet and fun to imagine. It's like the fantasy of how you wish things would turn out ... but often don't.
