Star Wars Shots Observation

It's so interesting to see another film from the 70s showing memorabilia and advertisements for the very first star wars film shortly after its release. I may be over-analyzing this, but I realized the other day there may have been some intention on the director's part for doing that. I'm sure many people who have seen hardcore are well aware of the many films with realistic, gritty, and depressing tone and content that came before throughout the decade. Star Wars is often regarded as one of those films from the late 70s that repopularized escapist films for entertainment rather than being solely grim, real-life reflections of society. I think by displaying those shots of those Star Wars "promotional" bits, the director is saying "Star Wars is entertainment, this is reality." Even if people flock to the movies to momentarily escape from their realities, the unexpected events, obstacles and tragedies of life are still inevitable. Schrader best exemplifies this by showing Van Dorn searching Kristen's empty room with displayed Star Wars posters after her sexual escapade. Anyways was wondering if anybody else agreed or disagreed.

The Star Wars advertisement on the wall of the building could have been just a coincidence. But the two strippers fighting each other with lightsabers - now that had to be deliberately arranged. But Star Wars was a very hot thing at the time, so I'm not convinced that the director had any special message in mind with these Star Wars details. Perhaps he just presented the consumer culture as it was at the time.
