Did Harrison Ford Refuse to get a Hair Cut for this Film?

I read that Harrison Ford declined to get a short hair cut for his role in "Hanover Street." Mr. Ford's hair length did seem a bit too "groovy" for a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot in World War II.

Well, at least, in "Apocalypse Now," Mr. Ford did sport a more realistic military hair cut.

I don't think getting the 1940s look for the actors troubled the makers of this film too much- LesleyAnne Down's makeup is pretty much a tutorial on the look of late 1970s/early80s and distracts me every time I see the film. I think all their efforts went into getting the right planes and then they went for a lie down.

What's a "lie down"?

I remember reading some kind of dispute over his Barnett too.

I can't remember if it was Han who wanted to get it cut, but the studio wanted him to keep it as it was (star appeal etc), or if it was the studio who wanted him to get it cut, but Indy refused.
