I liked it just because Altman made unique insane films

He was a original there was some kind of madness in all his films that I seen so far. He made a massive catalog. It will take me years to see everything. Most movies that are made now I watch....SUCK...stories acting mostly average and technology and HD special effects run the whole thing. The cinema is dead it's just a factory of excessive crap.

I had the good fortune of seeing this movie at the Seattle International Film Festival, when Altman himself was taking it to festivals because the studio considered it unreleasable. It subsequently played at a small Seattle art house. I found the movie offbeat, charming and sometimes hilarious, and never quite understood why it fell through the cracks--especially considering the talent involved (Carol Burnett, Lauren Bacall, James Garner, etc., all in good form). I found it re-emerge in its entirety on YouTube and it held up well, except for its wide-screen format ("Altmanscope") obviously works better on a big screen. With all the garbage that gets released, I'm surprised this one never got the audience it deserved.
