How did they do it ?

In the film, they had many shots of races and her practicing. In the races, it looked like she was running flat out, top speed. Was she that good, or was this just, Hollywood Magic ? Did they "under-crank" the camera ? Anyway, she looks great, simply great, like a combination of a tall Goldie Hawn and Farrah Fawcett.
