Possibly the sexiest movie I have ever seen

Do not get me wrong. This movie was disturbing more than anything else. I felt this revulsion at the main character but he also inspired a coldness because of how mechanical his actions were. The killer seemed philosophical, like he was being manipulated by destiny to kill and had long ago accepted this. It was troubling.

That said this movie had many parts which turned me on to an enormous degree. The sauna, the conversations during sex scenes which seemed so empowered by the sexual energy... Am I the only one who found all of this enthralling and seductive?

Well now, I can't speak for everyone but I can say, no, I didn't find this movie seductive, nor did it turn me on. Actually, the sauna part pissed me off because of Iwao's wife betraying him like that. Whatever floats your boat and all that, but when I wanna get off I'll stick to porn.

Hollywood used to create, now they just destroy.

I like porn too but it is not the same. In porn it is mainly close ups of genitals which is the least attractive part to me. There is no plot so it seems somehow less real to me, and therefore less compelling. And since most masturbate during porn... it is impossible to appreciate after orgasm, whereas not masturbating during a movie can possibly lead to a state of continued excitement.

I was turned on. His wife was hot(nice rack) and the taboo stuff that was going on was hot too. I'll take this masterpiece over porn anyday.

Bump!

Yep - this movie is cool - Free on demand HD.....

This story line represents an excellent frame work for an even better movie....

But it's definately sexy - I'm moving to nippon!

I'm a big fan of Japanese film, and a HUGE fan of this movie in particular.
However I find that there are a lot of unflattering sex scene's in their movies, and there's a lot of rape as well (FYI I don't like rape scenes very much)
but when Enokizu and (forgot her name) are going at it towards the end of the film when she was saying "we'll live like beasts" etc. It was very passionate and the scene with the father was very well acted and paced.
I still can't get over what a damn good director Shoei Imamura is!
Great film, it really stays with you.

You're not the only one. I could definitely feel the sexual energy coming from the wife when she was trying to seduce her father-in-law.

The shot of her backside when she took off her robe and slipped inside the hot spring did it for me. I wasn't even born when the film was made, but damn - I had to bite my fist when I saw her back and legs.

Check out Warm Water Under the Red Bridge, also directed by Imamura. IIRC that one has some of the most comical sex scenes you're ever gonna see.
