superfoot

An interesting note, Bill "superfoot" wallace can only use one leg to kick, since he suffered irreparable ligament damage to his right leg. After the damage, Wallace perfected his left leg, and is truly a fantastic technical martial artist.

I have to agree with you there, cranestyle. Wallace is an awesome martial artist. I met him in Syracuse, NY about ten years ago, and he's also a helluva nice guy.

NO, His nickname is and has always been SUPERfoot.. You might be thinking of Pete "Sugarfoot" Cunningham who was a standout Kickboxer in the early 80s

You've just got them mixed up. Here's the key to identifying them:

Pete "Sugarfoot" Cunningham is black, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace is white.

Sugarfoot did low kick rules and muay thai rules, later one if I remember correctly. Superfoot, just did full contact rules (above the waist).

In the early 80s i studied at one of chuck norris' schools in torrance ca.
Usually one night a week after closing black belts from all over would come to the studio to spar.
Bill Wallace was there a few times, he was incredible, well everyone there was. I was 11 and It was just awsome to watch these fantastic martial artists go at each other.
I wish I could remeber some of the other guys that showed up, have to wrak the old brain a bit.

Hey brianthehulk. After reading your letter I felt compelled to write, I hope you don't mind. I am a huge fan of Norris & "Superfoot" along w/ other Martial Arts greats. I have been training in the Martial Arts for 33 yrs. I am "desperatly seeking someone to talk Martial Arts with. My instructor fought Superfoot in an exhibition match many years ago in Salt Lake. Wallace was looking for some in the crowd that was a kicker if they would like do an exhibition match with him & my instr. voluntered. After the match Wallace told my inst. he was very impressed with my instr's kicks, they hit it off right away. I myself try to pattern my kicks after Wallace & Norris for that matter. I am very much a striker but in the past few years I have opened my mind to all arts to be as well rounded as possible. I especially am really impressed w/ JKD & the trapping techniques. I must say I have not sparred in years. We moved to Vegas 10 years ago & worked at a car dealership in which the parts directer had trained under John Natividad one of Norris' pupil's. He invited me to train w/ them, I did but found myself very much out of shape. I could not continue my training due my work schedule. I do alot of stretching & kicking drills by Myself & train on a water base filled bag. I know I am lomg winded so I will end this letter hoping I have found some to talk MA w/. Till then keep kickin'.

rdf38,
who was your instructor that Wallace sparred? I only ask b/c my instructor also fought him in a non-sanctioned pka-rules match, an exhibition fight. Sadly, my instructor was pummeled, as Wallace has a lot more reach and mass than my instuctor, who was at the time a lightweiht

I think Pete Sugarfoot appeared in "No Retreat, No Surrender", one other corny "Karate Kid"-imitation movie with Jean Claude Van Damme as the villainous fighter.

I remember his super-stretch commercials; "I love it!" :)
