There are several different versions of this film floating around. I recall that the original TV version did have several scenes at least alluding to an incestuous relationship between Bobby and his mother. However, every subsequent version I have seen of this film, including the one I own, called "The Heavyweight", has been edited to remove all mention of the relationship that was in the novel. It is obvious in "The Heavyweight" at least, that scenes have been cut, creating gaps and confusing dialogue. Hope this helps.

Also, being made for network TV--there's not much likelihood there'd be any explicit incestuous acts.

I just got a copy of this. I compared my copy to the bits that are on YouTube. On the YouTube clip, the film cuts just as Bobby (Berenger) is looking at Kate as she walks into the bedroom. The copy I got shows him follow her into the bedroom making it obvious that they consummated.
There's an additional scene in Las Vegas. Bobby and Kate check in to the hotel room. Bobby asks her if she wants to go downstairs to gamble. She winks and gives him a come hither look, the camera cuts to Bobby taking a shower making in obvious that they were getting it on again.
So nothing too explicit but very obvious that it was an incestous relationship.
