Is it true?

Was that real a basketball team in Pittsburgh or was it fiction?

ABA had the Pittsburgh Pipers for a while.

I thought the ABA team was the Pittsburgh Condors.

reply

Them too, I think. Though, I don't think at the same time.

It was the Pittsburgh Pipers during the 1967-68 season (in which they won the ABA championship with MVP Connie Hawkins), then they moved to Minnesota the following year. They moved back to Pittsburgh in 1970 and became the Pittsburgh Condors, but the franchise went out of business in 1972.

There was an team in the 1940s called the Pittsburgh Ironmen, and in the early 1960s, there was a team in the American Basketball League (which folded in 1962) called the Pittsburgh Renaissance.

By the way, that movie was just downright horrible and made no sense what so ever.
