Morris dummy head in the bed

I can understand the movie wanting to project a sense of excitement of the danger of being caught but lets keep it somewhat realistic. When the guard drops his baton and looks at morris's head in the bed...what reason would he have for this quizzical look and have to reach out and touch it if it was in fact Morris's real head?

reply

Probably because Morris "hasn't moved". The guard says this before he drops the baton.

When he picks up the baton he sees Morris lying in the same position. He hasn't moved. When Morris got back in his bunk he must have been in that same position. The guard thinks this is strange and wonders if Morris is ill or maybe dead.

He shakes him and Morris and Morris rolls over and speaks.

A very suspenseful scene. Well done. For a few seconds I thought it was still the dummy head and the guard would foil their escape plan.

He said "he hasn't moved" very casually. But when he picks up his baton, he looks at morris head like he had antennas growing out of it...
