Butts Lying in Bed Crying?

Is it only for purposes of dramatic and emotional effect that they had Butts lying in bed crying while his fellow convicts were escaping...? Would West really admit to the feds he was blubbering like a little cry baby because he failed to execute his own escape?

The official investigation by the FBI was aided by another prisoner, Allen West, who also was part of the escapees' group but was left behind. West's false wall kept slipping, so he held it in place with cement, which set. When Morris and the Anglin brothers (John & Clarence) accelerated the schedule, West desperately chipped away at the wall; however, by the time he made it through the wall, his companions were gone.

Hear what you're saying but just find it questionable that Butts was depicted blubbering, crying, lying down on his bed, and then several scenes LATER again started scrambling and digging again. They were preparing for almost two years for god's sake ~ West should//would have had advanced knowledge of his obstacles... This is yet ANOTHER reason for a professional remake (see more below).

I loved this film ever since I was a kid (I am 30 now) and I think that a remake is not necessary, but perhaps if it was just a new film based on the actual event itself (the escape of the three men) and not a remake of this film.
However you want to refer to it, a new film or remake would be extremely refreshing, closer to actual timelines synchronized with activities, produced to be much more dramatic similar to the hollyweird version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, filmed with newer technologies, new screenplay, compelling actors, etc. In fact, they should hire David Fincher. The way it is right now there's too many irrelevant scenes, and old technology renders it unflattering.

I personally believe that Morris made it out alive. ... Perhaps one or both of the Anglin brothers died (most likely drowned) but I believe that Morris lived a long happy life somewhere counting his blessings. (He had an IQ of 133 which makes him a genius)
You seem to be giving much credit to intelligence. What about the huge physical aspects and capabilities of having to endure the long COLD swim and/or rubber dingy ride? I've been out on boats in the SF Bay and even calm waters are murky and turbulent!!! One year on JULY 4th - a hot summer day - the SF Bay was FREEZING!!! (No Joke).

Yeah, they should get some compelling actors to replace those boring Eastwood and Ward guys.

They fit the era perfectly and represented their roles accurately. Would you prefer people like Zak Efron or Seth Rogan in all your movies? good grief.

If Morris had an IQ of 133, then why was he in prison to begin with?
