Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda looks really good in this movie, even after hiking in the desert for three days. Loved her walking through the desert in high heeled boots!

Yes, Jane Fonda is a good-looking woman. Always was, still is in my view.

Ms Fonda had some serious issues in the 1970s; the whole Vietnam thing was pretty bad. She outraged a lot of people and nearly spiked her career. One could say that we were fighting for the freedoms that she was exercising by going to Vietnam during a war, but it altered the view that many people have of Jane Fonda forever.

I'm not sure she's the best actress in the world, but she was usually credible--and creditable--in her roles. It's been my view that her best work was in "Klute" and "On Golden Pond".

Never liked her politics but she was eminently doable.

And I found it very amusing how she had perfect mascara and relatively tidy hair after those three days of hiking! And how Redford got little beard stubs on the third day, even though his character didn't seem like one to go around shaving all the time in the wilderness.

tramky -- I agree with your comments about Jane in the 1970s; at the time I was too young to understand the toxicity of her comments, but I feel she has -- on more than one occasion -- apologized and vocalized her regret.

That said...I think some of her best work is in "They Shoot Horses Don't They?" I highly recommend it, but don't expect to feel happy while watching it.

Unfortunately I was not too young to understand her comments and actions during that era and,in fact, was very much personally involved in the Vietnam conflict. Her position was and is very offensive to the men and women who were the objects of her derision. Although I've heard that she has stated that if there was some things she could change about her life, that would be one of them. Good for her, I guess, but the damage had already been done and I still have no use for her as a person with her attitudes and behavior toward the American involvement in Vietnam. But I could forgive her I guess when the Jews forgive Hitler.

She was a victim of a smear campaign by the Military Industrial Complex, who were desperate to turn the rising tide of anger against the Vietnam war, even if it meant blatantly lying, spinning, and suppressing the truth. Too bad you fell for it.

You should try thinking for yourself instead of having your opinions handed to you by people who manufacture wars for profit. You can begin by researching the Gulf of Tonkin incident which was used as an excuse to start that war. It never happened.

Those are the kind of catchphrases that were and still are used to justify the sending off of Americans to die in pointless wars. The Viet Cong was not a threat to the freedoms of anyone living in America. Saying that these soldiers died protecting our freedoms is just a defense mechanism against having to confront the reality that their deaths were meaningless and didn't accomplish or protect anything.
