Hanna Schygulla interview....

I would highly recommend that those of you who saw this film in a theatre rent the DVD. It has a wonderful interview with the star Hanna Schygulla. She talks about her history as an actress and the influence director Fassbinder had on her career. She is an extremely intelligent women and is very open in this interview. It gives much insight into her life, her work and the character Maria. It made me understand the film in a whole new light that I didn't get from watching the film alone.

Which DVD version are you referring to?

I could not help but marvel how VERY good Ms. Schygulla looked in the movie at the "ripe old age" of around 35

Also saw her the other day in Béla Tarr's Werckmeister (now there's a movie and a half) Harmonies. She seemed to have put on a little bit of weight, but there is, contrary to popular belief, nothing wrong with that.

The Criterion edition has the Hanna Schygulla interview.
