Does White Bull get the woman...?? (spoilers)

I'm confused - I've seen this movie twice on TV now and the ending still is unclear - we see White bull riding off into the sunset though what of his abductee? - Maybe I should buy a new aerial... It probably makes sense without the snow ;)

Insteresting parallel to Apocalypse now - chasing a seemingly crazy indian, though by the end of the film, sanity is blurred and the indian doesn't look so crazy anymore?

"Help me, please..." - could easily be replaced with - "The Horror" (I would have laughed ;)

Harry...

Pretty sure White Bull doesn't get the girl... She's down the hill the other two climb in the final chase. Kind of a wasted element of the story, I suppose... the only interesting thing about her is the relationship between White Bull and herself.

I'm not certain but I think it has something to do with man's competitive desire being greater than everything else. During Pike's pursuit White Bull left or dropped numerous items he new were valuable to whites/mexicans. The mexican's greed is what saved Pike from being shot (jewel hanging in the tree) and then is what got the mexican killed (knife in the tree). Pike didn't care for the jewels he only wanted the horse - and the final test was the woman. He could have taken the woman but never would have known if he could have had the horse. Likewise White Bull would rather have the horse than the woman which he obviously liked.

Thank you for this explanation of the ending of the movie. FINALLY I understand what it was really about. When I watched it I could only wonder why it ended the way it did and say "huh?" Thanks for the enlightenment.

I was royally pissed off that White Bull left the girl! I wanted him to take her with him cause I got the impression that she was starting to or would have eventually liked him.

After a while I wanted White Bull to kill Pike because he was so stupid!

I agree. I wanted White Bull to take Judith. She wanted to go, too.
She enjoyed riding behind him on the horse while he strung the jewels on the trees.

The film showed that Judith didn't get along with her weak brother. Plus, it seemed she was destined to be a servant at the mission given that she had to fill that nasty man's cup.

I don't think the life of an Indian woman was easy but at least she would have had some pleasant times with White Bull.
