when i say "worst" i mean it as in a sh*t film, for me, of all the video nasties i have seen, this was by far the worst, most amateur, annoying of them all.
it drove me insane it was so bad.
then you obviously havn't seen enough of the video nasties... some of them are real crap-a-thons... this movie had some cool atmosphere and scenes and whatknot.. definetly not the worst

i would say i spit on your grave is the worst. it was incredibly boring.
to answer your question a "video nasty" is a list of films that were banned under the obscene publications act 1983(?) in the UK, which were really just violent horror films or films with explicit sex scenes in them. it comes from books of the same nature in the victorian era (some of which were stronger than the video nasties!) and the press labeled these "nasties". in the early 80's the press labeled the type of horror films being made at the time "video nasties" and the name stuck.

If we're talking about the worse of video nasties, for those who aren't familar with them I think Evil Dead would be the best of the video nasties.

This is definitely one of the worst video nasties, however I still think "Devil Hunter" is by far the worst though.
I recommend watching it with the commentary on. It makes for a wayyyy more interesting film hearing a drunk Ferrara ramble on and on.
I found 'Nightmare in a Damaged Brain' to be the worst "video nasty". It was cheap blurry footage, terrible plot, weak acting, bad sound and just a terrible film. Its only saving grace was when that kid killed that hooker with an axe then buried it in his Dad's head.
The most disturbing thing about 'Driller Killer' was how totally *beep* up everyone in the film seemed to be, not the violence.
'I Spit on your grave' was a let down as well. Super shoddy footage and sound, lame acting etc..Plus the rape(s) was timid in comparison to other movies. In one scene, you only see the rapists face whilst its happening, its too badly done to be disturbing.
Evil Dead rules, end of story. For a super low budget horror that blows most so-called 'nasties' out of the water.

i liked "i spit on your grave" a lot actually, i found it lived up to its reputation fairly well, compared to some of the other *beep* on the list.
but i must agree, evil dead invented "nasty"
@Jakethemuss You have obviously seen the heavily cut version of i spit on your grave, the covered up the rape scene with repeated shots of the mens faces while the sound still carried on, its really bad editing, i suggest you try and find a uncut version of it, the rape scene is very brutal and there is a lot more violence in it aswell.

Human Experiments and I Miss You, Hugs and Kisses are far worse films than Driller Killer. Just sayin'.
shareIt was definitely a video nasty with the senseless killings of bums. The punk band that featured in it, Abel Ferrara's angry performance and that blonde haired alien looking chick made this film watchable. It was not bad for a low budget b movie. I think a lot of hollywood movies are worse.
