The Woman at the Airport Parking Garage, How did she get killed?

Originally, the creature was a zombie from the civil war (a confederate soldier) who was going around killing people with an axe - thus I assume that she, as well as the other victims - were beheaded.

The problem is that the movie tested poorly, and ALIEN was a big success, so the producers thought it would be brilliant to re-edit the movie to make the zombie into an alien... who can shoot laser beams... from his eyes...
