Nuclear power may be our last hope now

Face it, renewables like wind and solar power are not cutting it as advertised.

Yep. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep working on solar and wind and alternatives but nuclear is clearly the best clean option we have right now. I was pleasantly shocked Obama was on board with it, too.

Nuclear was the critical stop-gap between the 1970's and the time when solar and wind became viable sources of renewable power. Nuclear power produces steam. That's it. Coal produces megatons of CO2, mercury and other toxic chemicals. While coal exhaust has been filtered better, companies fighting regulations has kept coal as a major supplier of atmospheric pollutants.

Even the supposedly intelligent and enlightened left don't want to use their brains and actually research how nuclear power works. If they did, they would know that it is a very safe and reliable provider of zero-carbon energy. If you are scared of nuclear fuel and nuclear waste, think about this: As long as you have nuclear weapons in our country, you will have fresh nuclear fuel and spent nuclear waste being transported back and forth across our country. And any of it is heavily shielded. Nuclear waste is entombed in concrete and metal before it leaves the plants.
