Oscar worthy performance!

Jack Lemmon is one of my favorite actors and I have seen most of his movies. This was one of his greatest performances! Michael Douglas was good too but Jane Fonda was mediocre at best. If you haven't seen the movie it is well worth checking out in my opinion if for no other reason than to see Jack's wonderful performance. A true genius!

He does a very good job in this film. Recommend you see Save the Tiger, and Glengarry Glenn Ross - two different roles he did excellent work in, winning an Oscar for the former. One of the great actors over the last half-century.

i'd have to beg to differ....Jane Fonda, as she was throughout the 1970s, was simply extraordinary in the mechanics of her performance...and she was drop dead sexy if I may add that as well :)

I thought Douglas was excellent.

Jane Fonda was almost as great as Lemmon.

Jack Lemmon is fantastic in this movie and I think his performance what makes this movie so good. Another great Jack Lemmon role is in "Missing".

I have to agree with everything you said except for:

"Michael Douglas was good too but Jane Fonda was mediocre at best."

Reverse that, and you've got it. Douglas was a little too much for me here. He over-acted a little here.

I think all the lead performances are wonderful and Oscar-worthy. It's a shame Michael Douglas wasn't nominated.

It's a Superb performance by Lemmon. I still don't know how he or Peter Sellers lost to Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs. Kramer.

The Academy was in love with Kramer, that's why.

Lemmon has already won for Save the Tiger. Academy likes to spread the wealth around. Especially since Hoffman has never won one at the time too
