Wilford Brimley

The scene where Wilford Brimly's character defends Jack Godell, was a little hard to believe.
In real life, the company would have hustled him out of there,
before he could talk to anyone.

I think that's one of the best parts of the film - only Brimley could deliver those lines in such a forceful way.

"everyone's your brother till the rent comes due"

reply

Quite so.
He knew he was risking his job, but he couldn't
let them trash his friend.

Totally agree !

Yep. Why was he even there?

True.

Gibson, the public relations guy, tries to stop Spindler, but Spindler shakes him off. With all the media there with their cameras, it would have looked pretty bad to see a bunch of security guys try to carry Spindler away just for talking to the media.

It happens quickly too, and up to then Spindler had been a loyal, obedient "company man." Gibson had no reason to think that Spindler would act that way.

You got your mind right, Luke?

reply

Well said friend. As Kimberly said "If there's nothing to hide, let him speak".
I really like your signature line. Cool Hand Luke was a great Flick.
