Sienfeld

Since nobody else posted on this, I thought that I would mention the sienfeld episode "The Letter" where Jerry's girlfriend that painted "The kramer" writes a letter to Jerry directly plagarizing Marsha Mason's words in this film. I had never heard of the film so I looked it up on here. Anyway, great episode of Seinfeld!

First of all you spelled Seinfeld wrong, and second of all, I just saw the same freakin episode!! Just a moment ago I heard that quote that the painter copied and I wondered if chpater 2 was actually a real movie. holy crap. today is may 9th 2005, did you just watch the same episode!?!

reply

Spacemonkey,
Sorry about the misspelling, usually its I before E except after C but Yeah, I usually watch the back to back re-runs on TBS at 6pm. I had seen that episode many times before and I finally looked up the movie and whattya know. I do notice that since there are millions of IMDB users that you are more than likley to start a new discussion about an old re-run that is currently airing because thousands of couch potatoes could be watching it at that given moment. Fascinating stuff huh?

Actually the character on SEINFELD does more than plagarize the speech...she lifted it right from the film word for word. I had seen the film long before I saw that episode of SEINFELD and recognized it immediately. It's Marsha Mason's biggest speech in the film.

saw seinfeld today on tbs where they mention this movie. great stuff

Haha just saw the episode tonight and thought I'd look up the movie to see what it was about! Too bad the only relevance this movie had was through an old episode of Seinfeld.

Allow me to continue this thread. The Seinfeld episode aired last Wednesday, December 3rd. It got me thinking how I have never seen the film air on TV or cable channels. My parents told me they rented Goodbye Girl and wanted another film with Marsha Mason in it. I recommended Chapter Two and wouldn't of even thought about it if not for the Seinfeld episode.

That episode of Seinfeld was screened today, December 19th, in Norway. Never heard of the film, but I'm a fan of James Caan. Very cool to see.

I don't watch Seinfeld but figured I'd keep this thread running. Came here because "Chapter Two" is playing on TCM right now. :)

reply

Haha, this is hilarious. The episode is on FOX in NY now, lol

Damn you Seinfeld!

I too just saw this episode in L.A. It just finished as I write this. I'm here because many movies mentioned on Seinfeld are made up names, like Chunnel, Brown Eyed Girl and of course Rochelle Rochelle. So I wanted to see if this was one of the made up movie names too. lol.

Let's keep this thread alive!

Um, not to pick nits, "Rock", but how could an (obviously) learned 'Seinfeld' aficionado such as yourself, forget the unforgettable, "Sack Lunch" ?????

I've seen the episode several times before but I thought this was just a fake movie that they show on there. Movies like Sack Lunch or the "Flaming Globes of Sigmond" movie.

I came to see two things, one that this movie is real and two that this movie was a Neil Simon movie. I got the name confused with Neil Young though because I thought Neil Simon was a musician.

Anyhow, two topics on this board and I find this one so count me in as someone who's only heard of htis movie because of Seinfeld. :-p

Perhaps I'll netflix the movie so I can actually see it. (EDIT: Looks like it's only on VHS. Lame!)

Also just watched the episode on DVD. Funny thread, doing my part to keep it going. Neil Simon owes Seinfeld big time for keeping his movie on people's minds LOL
