Hello Jayhawk777,
one scene which also impressed me very much (aside from the terribly sad and moving last scene of the movie, which is acted out excellently, but so much so that it's almost unbearable to watch) is this: At one point, Ricky meets his father - I think he had to pick him up after school and drive him home - and he has made a drawing which he gives as a present to his father's character. Just a very brief dialogue, but I found that scene SO touching: "Do you like it?", TJ asks... "Oh yeah, I like it..." (which was said with such a dry, rough voice that you literally can hear how much the father feels ashamed of himself and the whole situation...) - and the few seconds of waiting in "breathless silence" between "TJ"'s innocent question and the father's reply gives us one of the most beautiful portrait shots of Ricky from his early movies :-)
Ricky was much criticized for some aspects of his acting; but I'll always stick to my opinion: He was one of the best Boy Actors ever...
Kind regards
