Have some non-French people seen this film ?

It is really a cult film in France.

Have some foreigner seen this film ? Did you enjoy it ? Did you see it in French ?

I've seen it during my holiday in Les Deux Alpes in february, 2004, together with a friend of mine and we loved it! We're a big fan of Michel Blanc ever since, it's a shame the DVD is so hard to get!

I'm a beginner French learner, and I watched this film in French with French subtitle so I was only grasping a little part of the dialogues. But, still, I laughed my arse off! It's really funny, even without understanding the conversations fully. I hope to find the DVD with english subtitle to grasp more of it... or watch it again later once my French get better. ;-)

You can find an English subs DVD on amazon.co.uk

I've seen it in Brazil(!) and I had such a great time! I must say I am fluent in french because most of the humorous parts are untranslatable.

I'm french and I'm happy to see that a few american people like this movie...

In France, it's not a movie, it's... a monument, just like the eiffel tower!

I'm British but have spent most of my life in France. I wasn't a big fan of french comedies before the nineties (les trois frères, les visiteurs, etc.) until I saw Les Bronzés font du ski. I think it's one of the funniest films I've seen, let alone one of the funniest french films. Can't wait to watch it tonight on tf1 :-))

Hmm, this thread is very old, but I thought I would still contribute. I'm Texan, and I saw about half of this. I don't speak French, and it was without subtitles, but my friend who is half-French was able to guide me through much of it. The scene with the Italians was hilarious, as was the scene where the peasants share the wine with the travellers.

I wish I could speak French and perhaps I would have enjoyed it even more, but as it is I still thought this was pretty funny.

I saw lots of posters and billboards for this film in the French South Pacific colony of New Caledonia while on a cruise (from Australia) in 1980. I've been looking for it ever since! I don't think SBS (our TV network that specialises in non-English language films) has ever shown it.

the scene where the peasants share the wine with the travellers

It is not wine !

C'est de la liqueur d'échalote, relevée au jus d'ail ...

Shallot spirits with garlic juice !!!

My girlfriend and I saw it in the 1980s. We groaned when we realized it was a comedy but started to watch it anyway. And found ourselves laughing uproariously (along with the theater audience) for the rest of the film. If I recall correctly, the audience applauded at the end.

All I remember now is the chess set flying out the balcony -- and, of course, who can forget the drinking scene with the farmers?
