Mike's Later Life

In my imagined version of what happened to Mike is that after the race, he and his brother had a long talk. The next thing you know he's a cop. Surprisingly to everyone, including himself, he is quite good at the job, because he likes to bust balls and give out tickets to college students. He mellows because he found his calling. In the movie he is always the driver, don't forget. At this moment in time, he is close to retirement. He's divorced and married again to a younger woman, and his kids from his first marriage are in their 30s. One of them even attended Indiana University, which he thinks is ironic, but deep down he feels like his life has come full circle. Regarding riding a bike, he's has not been on one since 1979.

I like it. And one of his kids is the quarterback.

And another is a rebel who acts tough and is always getting in trouble, which his father's connections get him out of! Which worries Mike, as because he's spent the last week asking about his retirement options.

But yeah, maybe Mike found his calling as a cop or an auto mechanic, maybe he never found his calling and spent his life working crap jobs and getting angrier and angrier at the world. You never know with guys like that, a lot of them never find their place in the world and have a rough, rough, time.
