Mom and dad..perfectly hysterical

Does anyone agree Barbara Barrie and Paul Dooley are perfect for mom and dad? ( Beaver Cleaver's mom and Molly Ringwald as Samantha in 16 Candles dad) Not to mention in every scene they are in is a riot!? So funny!!! Love them.

reply

Beaver's mom was played by Barbara Billingsly, not Barbara Barrie.

So sorry! I stand corrected! Barrie played the wife of Barney Miller in the Barney Miller show. But still, a great mom person!

Barbara Barrie has quite a list of credentials. She was Barney Miller’s wife, Michael Steadman’s mom on ThirtySomethingand Brooke Shields' grandmother on Suddenly Susan.

Also Aunt Margo to the twins in Double Trouble.

Loved the scene where the dad listens to the Little 100 race on the radio.

Great, great movie.

the father steals the film

They're pretty great. I like how casual the mom is...getting hooked on opera and singing to it while polishing the floor. Then they play it in the hilarious "seduction" scene with Dad taking off his pocket protector.

I followed all the rules...and you followed none of them. And they all loved you more.

Yes!!!!! Very hysterical!

Wait! Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make Espresso!

But wow, Mom and Dad have to be in their thirties if not forties, the father’s had a heart attack or nearly had one and they talk about another baby. Wonder how that worked out? Now it’s no big deal for people over 40 to even become first time parents, during the ‘70’s it was a bigger deal.
