Favorite Movie

This movie has always been my favorite... from the storm and shipwreck in the beginning to the horse racing finale, it has awesome directing and very talented actors. Although there is very little dialogue in the first half, it doesn't really need it. The filming is absolutely amazing as well. My favorite parts of the movie are the scenes on the island and , of course, the match race.

Everytime I watch this movie, I imagine myself running on the beach with the horse. You can tell the actor Kelly Reno had fun playing with the horse.

The Black Stallion is my all-time favorite movie. I have read the book and every other book in the series and I recommend that anybody who likes this movie should read the books. Guess what kind of horse I own... An Arabian like the horses they used in the movie. Although mine is bay (brown with a black mane and tail). Can't wait for The Young Black Stallion.

Oh, can I join the praising? I too love this film. I was probably around 7 the first time I saw it. Beautifully filmed!!! And nice music too. It helps that I think black Arabian stallions are among the prettiest creatures in the world, lol. Sadly I haven't seen many irl! :p

Well, that'd be a good way to go, wouldn't it? If I needed to put down a suffering horse I sure wouldn't shoot it in, say, its stomach.

For the record, I am not a horse fan, and I couldn't get into the books as a kid (I preferred the Hardy Boys). But tThe Black Stallion is one of the earliest movie going memories I have and to this day I find the movie astonishingly good. The first (almost wordless) half of the film remains the best part, but no secion if this story is left wanting for quality and drama. What I liked also was that this was a G rated film, not because it's a kiddie movie (it's not) but because it didn't need to be or show anything other than what was important to the characters and story. It reminds me of a movie like 2001, also a G rated masterpiece, in that sense. Back when ratings could actually refer to oscreen conduct and not be a (poor) reflection of an age demographic.

Kudos, you guys. Pretty good posts. I own this movie on DVD, and yeah, it's one of my favorites. It sort of annoys me that it didn't get more Oscar consideration, but it makes me rest easier knowing there's people out there that appreciate this movie. I like the fact that it's a "quiet" movie, of sorts. And the filmmakers didn't have Kelly Reno ham it up in any way.

It's ok, it did a lot for me watching it the first time as a kid way back, but now (I hate to say it) if a remake would be acceptably better, I would probably like it better.
