Deserves to be better known

This seems to be an almost forgotten film from Ken Loach - I have seen quite a lot of his films but had not even heard of this, a children's adventure story set in 18th century Yorkshire, until quite recently. But it's something of a minor gem... naturalistic performances, a charming story with a bite and a disarming strangeness. It's an oddity in Loach's filmography, but one that's certainly worth tracking down. 7/10
