Truly the cheesiest Disney movie ever made

The sets, special effects, the acting, production values, everything, bad, bad, bad. Looks like it was made by a high school stage production. A real disappointment, considering it was a Disney project with first rate actors. Disney is known for it's innovative productions. But I'm guessing this mess was thrown together in an effort to cash in on the Star Wars phenomenon, released just a couple of years earlier. It just never should have been made. It spoiled the Disney reputation.

You must have watched a different film to me then as i thought it looked great at the time and still looks great. the sets looked expensive and most of the special effects were great for the time too.

the only thing that doesn't look so good is the wires holding up the robots but there was nothing they could do for that at the time as they didn't have digital cgi.

I hated this movie as a kid but not for any reason you state but that I thought it was boring compared to Star Wars. Today it's one of my all time favorite guilty pleasure movies, I love it. I disagree with everything you said as I think it's sets, special effects, acting & production values look great for a 1979 movie. It looks realistic like what actual humans today would build. They don't make movies for everyone, you sound like you need to stick to chick flicks. They sound right up your alley.

reply

Chick Flicks? As I said, Star Wars was a far better movie. Tell me, why is it you don't see this movie on TV that much? It's because it's a *beep* movie.

reply

Yeah chick flicks, they sound more for you. I don't watch TV, I own all my favorite movies on DVD. They obviously didn't make this movie for you, move on and watch your chick flicks.

LMAO you got mad that I spelled it Rister? How sensitive are you? Does your Mangina hurt from it getting misspelled? I'll wager you're a pussy liberal and suffer from Libtardation.

Star Wars is a fairy tale. There is no comparison to a philosophical movie about life, eternity death an line between them (like The Black Hole). Thats like comparing a TikTok clip with Citizen Kane :) . Thats doenst mean that Star Wars isnt a very good entertainment movie. But that its main purpose. Whereas with The Black Hole you soon realise that the SciFi plot is just the framing for a very dark situation and end.

The still composing were done obviously by a company without quality control (the background sometimes move when they should stay still :) ). But the practical effects look most times way better then anything done today. CGI are still so obvious (also for financial reasons) that we are still in the same era of CGI were pratical effects were during the 1950s. Since there isnt any valid critique on thos effects from todays point of view.

And I presume that "Psycho" is for you a simple thriller and not a story with more layers then a oniion? Thats why one of the darkest SciFi movies ever released is "cheesy" for you. Yes, the robots are cheesy. But they are made cheesy, cause they were built in for the kids.
