Oh, absolutely not. I'm not doctor, but Borderline Personality Disorder is an extreme condition with semi-psychotic or sociopathic features which are quite different from Esther/Sylvia.
Esther/Sylvia was just a highly intelligent, clinically depressed woman who had a hard time turning off the claw-your-neck pointlessness of much of life's details (at least, the Sylvia in the book, because the movie sucks).
At the end of the day, Sylvia/Esther proababy just needed her Omega-3s and a good Prozac Rx for six months (although that kind of medication was decades away).
