You're absolutely right, I said in a review I wrote on Netflix, that if I made this movie, I would definitely give it a happy ending, hell, I'd make a sequel to it, where Louise breaks out of the house and actually starts a better life for herself. I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone interested in seeing the film, but I will say it was a huge letdown. It also contributed to me having nightmares as a child, when I saw it on TV in 1988.

If you think it's worth it. The one that used to give me the heebie-jeebies is "Burnt Offerings", with the old dead lady in the attic.

That was a good movie. Scared me as a kid! It doesnt need a remake. It was great as it was!

As I said in another post, I felt so sorry for Louise's charecter. Yes, a sequel where she escapes and pursues a happier (it could not be any sadder than the one which she had been living) life. Well said!
