What A Film!!!

I just watched this in Spanish, even though my understanding is mediocre, however it did not detract from the experience. Actually watched it twice in a row just to nail it into my mind. It's hard to narrow down what's so good about this film; mainly I'd describe as a superior HORROR film without being supernatural. A vampire concept, where the characters are principally addicted to film and feed off it to the point of madness. If you've ever tried to make your own movie, you will understand.

It's a superb film, yes. It went almost unnoticed when it was released but it's achieved cult status.

I do not know why, but I never had this much trouble loving a cult film before. Vampires feeding off movies, possessing camera, making pepople disappear by pointing the camera at them, it just did not appeal to me a great deal.

I always thought vampires symbolize romanticism, hypnosis, and timelessness. The way they could observe life forms (if they existed), no other creature could. It is easy to see why this film achieve cult status, but it is difficult to apprehend how it became a vampire movie.

People can be mad, and they can live on movies to an extent beyond insanity. But that does not (or should not) make them vampires.

Or maybe I totally misunderstood what the word vampire is supposed to mean.

This film really flaunts the fact that it is a vampire film, and very good at being one, without flashing the vampire teeth for a single instant. But what would a certain vampire do with his/her teeth out in this movie? Bite film reels?

Did you ever get to see Arrebato/Rapture with English subtitles? The dialog is very bizarre, and important to what is going on. i have just seen it for the first time; really fascinating film!
