Did I just finish watching? I think I just went from 49 years old to 75. What a long drawn out bore fest.

I can’t see how this flick is considered a classic.

Took forever to get there.

The main character showed zero emotion in every scene. It was like Martin Sheen had a gun pointed at his head to act in this masturbation of a mess.

Robert Duvall was way over the top in his performance as was Hopper

Good God, thank you for letting me live thru those three hours

There is another good movie you should see it is called The Godfather.

Seen The Godfather about a 1000 times, an all time great

I have to say that I agree with you, the long version of this film is just awful.

The original version was about 45 minutes shorter,made for a tighter story line and was able to keep the viewers attention.

Unfortunately the longer version is the default, and what most people see nowadays

The only part that drags is the French plantation scene. Apart from that, it's highly entertaining to notice the length.

Really dude?

I was 10 when this came out and got to see with my uncles and I can remember knowing what was going on and understood about 80% of the plot even though I was too young to understand most adult situations at my age.

Totally see the OPs point. I love epics as long as you’re going somewhere but there were so many pointless scenes this one.
