Dennis Hopper explains his rocky relationship with Brando on the set

Check it out here (it's 6 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Isk-mJBK1tk

What's funny is that Dennis talks about Brando similar to the way his wacky journalist character in the movie talks about Kurtz (Brando). Either life imitates art or Hopper never got out of character or, more likely, his character essentially was Hopper.

You can almost hear him saying: "What are they going to say about him? What? Are they going to say he was a kind man? He was a wise man? He had plans? He had wisdom? Bull****, man!"

As much as I hate Bob Costas, he's a pretty decent interviewer.

Thanks.

Crazy story. It seemed like they were both a little too high strung for their own good.

Oh most certainly...its the stuff of Hollyweird legend
Sheen suffered a heart attack during filming (he REALLY did lose his shit and punch out that mirror and laid his knuckles open on the busted glass while drunk)
Brando showed up un-rehearsed and didnt know his lines at all ( he ad-libbed most of his crazy talk) and was at LEAST 150 lbs too heavy to play a Green Beret Commando
Hopper was...just Hopper...guy was high as a kite
Coppola stuck a pistol in his own mouth and nearly ended it all right there
AND they got hit by a hurricane which destroyed most of the sets...
Amazing stuff...im amazed Coppola even finished it...i got mad respect for that lunatic!!
